AWAKENING/art
& culture is pleased to present OLA 21 (Orlando Local Agenda 21).
This event is our answer to the call from the 1992 Earth Summit in
Rio to form Local Agendas to further the cause of sustainability of
our planet.
Part celebration and part education, OLA 21 is AWAKENING/ art &
culture’s contribution to developing a sustainable community in
Greater Orlando. Brought to you by eminent scholars, academics,
artists, environmental leaders and films; it is the expression of
qualities, relationships and conditions for a different future. We
have a number of great films, which will be shown at Premiere Cinemas
14 Orlando Fashion Square and the Bush Theatre at Rollins College, as
well as other local community venues. We will have meet the filmmaker
events with John De Graff and Jamie Moffet.
We will also have a great panel discussion on sustainability issues
with Cynthia Barnett, Leslie Dean Price, Nikos Salingaros, and Jaime
Correa, as we attempt to answer R. Buckminister Fuller’s challenge:
“We are called to be architects of the future, not its
victims…[Our challenge is to] make the world work for 100% of
humanity in the shortest possible time through spontaneous
cooperation and without ecological damage or the disadvantage of
anyone.”
